English is taught now in Japan from elementary school, but there is still an uphill struggle for proficiency. Can't blame them because, hey, learning languages is hard! But you have to give it to their positive attitudes about it and general desire to keep learning :) Note: We are laughing with, not laughing at. Me and Shizuka (Anderson) both struggled through learning Japanese (and have many funny stories about that, especially in University), but we learned through our mistakes and laughing through them.
