When Syria came under the leadership of the Ba'ath Syrian Regional Branch thru a coup in 1963, Hafez al-Assad thru internal arguments, became the country's new president in 1971. Hafez al-Assad implemented a new constitution, which led to a national crisis. Unlike previous constitutions, this one did not require that the president of Syria be a Muslim, leading to fierce demonstrations in Hama, Homs and Aleppo organized by the Muslim Brotherhood. By 2000, his son, Bashir, became the new president after Hafez death. By 2006, after a release of classified documents from Wikileaks, the country may have been targeted for regime change using the CIA as the antagonist for the upcoming revolution in the 2011 Arab Spring. In this video i discuss what led to the revolt and the involvement of the United States, Israel and Saudi Arabia in the initial stages by supporting the Syrian opposition which were the Wahhabi Jihadists such as Jabhat al-Nusra, Islamic State of Iraq and the Free Syrian Army.
