shows pictures or photos showing the tandem seat version of the J-20 stealth fighter jet (two seats, front and rear) flying escorted by three loyal wingmen of its GJ-11 UCAV. Judging from the programs run by Beijing and the Air Force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLAAF), both types of manned and unmanned aircraft do exist and are being developed. The J-20 tandem seat variant has flown, as well as the GJ-11 has entered service and has been shown at several air shows. The tandem seat variant of the J-20, often written as the J-20AS, was first launched in October 2021. This variant was developed primarily for the purpose of accommodating a drone controller by the operator in the rear seat of the J-20. The development of a "loyal wingman" for modern fighter jets has been initiated and realized in advance by the US and Australia through Boeing and the Australian Air Force (RAAF) which has produced the MQ-28 Ghost Bat. While the US Navy as a pioneer, has actually stopped the X-47B UCAV project made by Northrop Grumman. Regarding the GJ-11, this unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) has been in the works for a long time. This flying wing and tailless drone was jointly designed by Shenyang Aircraft Design Institute (SYADI), Shenyang Aerospace University (SAU) and Hongdu Aircraft Industry Group (HAIG). Originally known as the UCAV AVIC 601-S project whose prototype had its first flight on November 21, 2013. Reportedly since October 1, 2019, the GJ-11, dubbed the Sharp Sword, has officially served for the PLA Air Force. If the AVIC 601-S where the tip of the engine (muffler) is still visible, then the GJ-11 has been hidden to reduce the image of the heat. The GJ-11 has the general characteristics of a length of 11.6 m, a wingspan of 14 m, a height of 3.1 m, and an MTOW of a range of 20,215 kg. The drive is a turbofan engine of unknown type. It has a maximum speed of 1,000 km/h, a flying altitude of up to 12,500 m and a range of 4,000 km. The GJ-11 was first shown in public during the China National Day parade in Beijing on October 1, 2019. In its class, the GJ-11 will compete directly with the Sukhoi S-70.
