Lansford High School Yearbook - 1945

This is a look back at a time that many of us today did not experience first-hand. The year was 1945; the place was Lansford, Pennsylvania. Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman were still on the radio, Plymouth and Pontiac were still cars, coal was still king. During the final year of World War II, the class of ’45 offered their class’s version of the Lansford High School yearbook, “The Panther.” Over the following years, a great deal of change would enter the picture for the town, the biggest of which—at least in terms of the school—would see it merging with the other nearby schools to form the Panther Valley School District. Lansford, as a district unto itself, would cease to exist. For those of us too young to remember, these images can transport us to a time when all that we knew of the era was by way of stories from our parents and grandparents. For those left who were there, it might offer a memory or two of days gone by. Sit back and enjoy. Maybe even turn on some Glenn Miller. ————— Music found in this project is from iMovie and is used with permission. All images are from Lansford High School’s 1945 yearbook, “The Panther.” I’m pretty sure that none of it was copyrighted because back then they had bigger things to worry about.
