For a brief period in the late ’90s and early 2000s, Lorenz became known for his hilarious and often provocative on-stage antics (in 1998, he and vocalist Till Lindemann were arrested in Massachusetts for committing lewd and lascivious acts). He seldom grants interviews, and there is little information about his personal life online. Most, if not everything you can read about him, is directly related to his 40-plus years as a professional musician. In the ’80s, Lorenz played keyboard for punk band Feeling B, which saw its greatest popularity around the end of the German Democratic Republic. After Feeling B disbanded, Lorenz joined the Grammy-nominated, internationally renowned band Rammstein, which is often associated with Neue Deutsche Härte, a subgenre characterized by the combination of alternative and groove metal with elements of techno.
