april 28, 2025 After full bloom, we see many clusters small fruit set. this is very exciting and we are off to a good start for Spring. However, anytime from now April to June we will see lots of immature fruits dropping commonly called "June fruit drop" . Don't be counting your fruit set just yet. Even if you wanted all the fruits to stay until harvest. The tree will decide what to stay and what to drop. it doesn't just just drop once it drops anytime all the way until July! For me, -lack of water is a cause of premature fruit drop ( leaves droop like they are sad, if you water them they may perk up, but prolong excessive lack of watering is more than just droopy leaves but the leaves will dry out and turn yellow/ brown and fruits will all drop) -lack of correct fertilizer , it's not just what fertilizer but when and what NPK ratio is being applied not all fertilizers are the same -disease: if a tree is fighting off a disease it will not have the energy to hold its fruits it's busy fighting to live so between fruits and surviving it will drop ALL of its fruits to survive. The best thing is to give consistence deep watering then to forget. Secondly, during heatwaves extra protections with mulch will help and absolutely not fertilizing when heatwave is coming!
