This is a complete recording of our Panama Canal Transit on February 15th 2017 starting in Panama Bay as the sun rises over the Pacific* at 6:40 am and continues non-stop through all the locks, the Culebra cut, Gatun Lake and out past the breakers into the Caribbean Sea. The full transit took approx 11 hours. This video is slightly shorter because during the Culebra cut area and the Gatun lake I was not always using multiple cameras. This is because I needed to insure that I had enough memory to record the final lock at Gatun. Technical details: 2) Panasonic HDC-TM41H HD Camcorders(1080) 1) GoPro 4 (4K) 1) Moto Z Android Approx 200 gb of memory cards Edited using Sony Vegas 13. It took 5 days to edit and 40 hours to render and the file size, WMV is 38gb. Because of the amateur nature of the recordings the sound quality on the cameras, excessive wind noise, most of the audio has been replaced with sound files from Pond5.com, SoundBible.com, YouTube's Audio Library as well as some audio salvaged from the original videos. The only change to the video was some minor contrast adjustment to remove some of the glare and white noise. Other than that this is what we saw from our view. This was recorded on the NCL Jewel from the deck of our Suite 10002. On a personal note: My grandfather worked on the canal in the 1920s and this was the first time anyone from our family has been back to the canal. It was impressive and meets and beats expectations. If you have the opportunity to take this trip I highly recommend it. Note: This may be the first full non time-lapse recording of a Panama Canal Transit. I have not been able to find one, if you do please let me know. *yep, because of the location of Panama you can see the sunrise over the Pacific.
