Michael Riedel on how Broadway saved New York

Controversial New York Post columnist Michael Riedel turns thoughtful journalist in ‘Razzle Dazzle: The Battle for Broadway,’ his compelling history of Broadway from the mid-1960s, when New York City was on the verge of bankruptcy and Broadway was in danger of drying up and blowing away. In the video excerpt above, Riedel talks about the legendary showmen who stepped up to save the day with productions like ‘Equus,’ ‘42nd Street,’ ‘Cats’ and 'A Chorus Line.' Riedel was in Denver for a visit coinciding with the launch of the If/Then national touring production to talk about his new book. Moderating the conversation at the Denver Center's Conservatory Theatre was David Stone, producer of Broadway shows like 'Wicked,' 'The Vagina Monologues' and 'If/Then.' Video by John Moore for the DCPA NewsCenter. To read our complete interview with Riedel, click here: http://www.denvercenter.org/blog-post....
