His life changed at 19 when his daughter was diagnosed with spina bifida, a birth defect in which a developing baby's spinal cord fails to develop properly. From that moment on his life changed, and he made it his mission to provide whatever she needed to live a great life. This is where boxing came in. In just a year and a half after picking up the sport of boxing, Deontay Wilder won the bronze medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. His career sky rocketed from there.
