The Nest's field recorders can be a bit of a beast. In this video I break down in depth how they can be conquered! This can be fixed with a dedicated windscreen, though at the moment we don't have any on hand. Windscreens and pop filters can be improvised using spare cloth and material. *Note Phantom Power Giving phantom power to most microphones that don't require it will not be an issue or damage the microphone at all. HOWEVER when given to specific kinds of microphones, like ribbon mics, the damage can be irreversible. Its a good habit to get into knowing wether or not what you are using needs phantom power.
