TRAVELLING FROM MINDANAO TO LUZON BY LAND TRIP IS NOT EASY. But it can be done. 1650KMs in 3 long days - this was a great first experience with my new Suzuki V-Strom 250! From Davao City, I headed north to Lipata port in Surigao, and got lucky by getting a boat that hadn't quite been cleared to leave! Then I take a new road from San Ricardo port on Panaon Island around its eastern side, with some sheer drops into the ocean if you overrun! There's also a 450m viaduct at San Ramon! From there it's a journey across the mountains and plains to Tacloban, where I slept beside the famous San Juanico Bridge! The next day, I took brunch in Calbayog - British style! Before having slightly less luck with ferries at Allen and a jaunt through the volcanic landscapes of Bicol! Dinner was a much more Filipino sinigang! The final day was the long winding road, from Naga to Gapan in Nueva Ecija. I finally rode the Bitukang Manok in Atimonan, before eating Pancit Lucban in Tayabas (not Lucban! Shock!
