Sludge Syndrome: A Sludge/Hardcore Doom Metal Compilation

Sludge metal, the direction of heavy metal, which appeared in the late 80's as a result of crossing doom metal such as Black Sabbath or Saint Vitus with hardcore punk. Accordingly, were left with a slow and heavy sound, which now and then speeds up. Lyrically, everything misanthropic, nihilistic, and existential melancholy is present but at the same time, some spontaneous revolutionary message slips through the cracks. Honestly its exactly what to expect from southerners of the state of Louisiana where sludge metal originated in the face of such bands as Graveyard Rodeo, and formed in 1988 Eyehategod. Heat, high humidity, swamplands, a developed oil and gas industry and as a result, a chemical industry. Louisiana was a bit of a backwater State in the US and in terms of music, according to Eyehategod vocalist Mike Williams, most bands skipped New Orleans because it was easier to go straight from Houston to Atlanta, and only hardcore punk bands like Black Flag, Misfits, Minor Threat would come to play in an atmosphere of stench from the swamps and chemical emissions. Therefore, most of the boys were simply doomed to focus on these groups when they first picked up guitars. After some time and the inevitable progression of a musicians ' skill, the "native" southern Blues harmonies began to be mixed into the music of punk. At the same time, in the State of North Carolina, a band based on the same hardcore punk music was formed by Kirk Fischer, Buzzov-en became one of the dirtiest sounding sludge metal bands with many unforgettable samples. As always, New York became a part of this "underground" scene, the passion for the work of bands such as Celtic Frost, Amebix, Saint Vitus, etc. led to the birth of a mostly female band in 1990, which became known as 13. The door to sludge for the general public was left ajar thanks to a man named Phil Anselmo, the vocalist of the stadium-gathering band Pantera. Originally from New Orleans, he was well acquainted with the dudes from the local hangouts there, including the musicians from Crowbar and Eyehategod. In ' 91, the guys would drink and smoke it up while jamming, playing a few concerts together and ultimately writing a couple of songs. No major label could pass by such a "star" line-up, and the trademark for the band Down was then registered. Of course, the band itself is more likely to play Stoner rock or southern metal, but the names of the participants attracted the attention of many listeners to their main projects. Over time more bands began to appear within the genre, and refined it both musically and lyrically. This is a compilation of some of my personal favorite essential bands for the genre and the new bands still keeping doom and sludge metal alive.
