Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood says interest rates are “well below” their long-term average despite being increased 11 times between March 2022 and July 2023. Mr Greenwood joined Sky News host Sharri Markson to discuss how the RBA Governor Michele Bullock is progressing since taking the top job since Philip Lowe. “The second thing also to bear in mind is that while most people have had jobs, and remember that last month the unemployment rate fell, it didn’t rise as expected,” he said. “So that means that really people are able to cope. “The real crisis happens always when people don’t have a job, and that way they’ve got nowhere to turn.”
