This episode is primarily a discussion of choices made over the last two weeks about our lives and this channel. And that begins at 02:33 after a very short visit to the lushly blooming (and fragrant!) garden. Thanks for coming back for another visit. Would you enjoy a village life in France? Mainly for over-50s & over-60s, our lifestyle channel includes normal daily events, cycling and bikepacking with Mark, painting and artistic endeavours with both Deborah and Mark, visits to historic French villages-towns-landmarks, and our own adventures in finding and renovating an old house. An increasingly important focus is on living a frugal and sustainable lifestyle in retirement that still allows for fun and enjoyable activities. We'll share our version of retirement and how we achieve a balanced lifestyle. After moving permanently to France from Australia in 2016, American-born Deborah and British-born Mark now enjoy a low-stress and happy life in beautiful northern France. We're young-at-heart artists and artisans, designers, photographers. Deborah has a background in writing, editing, journalism, and psychology. Mark spent decades in the building trades, so we're serial renovators of run-down houses in the USA, Australia, and now France. We have lots of plans for the upcoming months and years, so why not join us! TIMELINE 00:00:00 Intro 00:02:33 Discussion of the original intent of this channel and how it has morphed & expanded. 00:03:54 Do feel free to propose ideas for episodes. 00:04:30 What we've been up to for the last two weeks. Meeting with property agents and investigating houses for sale (online, not in person) in other parts of France. 00:05:30 What are the ramifications of selling and renovating another house in a new place. 00:06:00 This house is fine-tuned for everything we need. 00:08:15 We've decided to stay in this lovely village that has no shops or amenities. 00:10:00 We're a global society and are not immune in France to the chaos being cause by outside forces. 00:10:38 However, we have a lovely life and a safe & comfortable home, so we feel grateful. 00:11:30 What kind of episodes will we or won't we be making if we don't do another reno? 00:12:40 My brain is not happy if it isn't active. Each episode takes 20 hours minimum from start to finish, and that process thrills me. 00:13:40 Again -- give us suggestions of what you would like to see. 00:14:00 A stairlift may be on my horizon -- a very expensive option. 00:14:30 An admission that we may seem outgoing, but we are actually both shy and introverted. And we've been each other's best friend for the last 31 years. 00:15:00 Big city shopping and more activities are just over an hour away in Rennes. Let us know if you would like us to feature places like that in our videos. 00:15:50 We're being very honest and we have some ideas for new videos, but we aren't quite sure of the evolving direction of this channel. 00:16:00 A few sentences about our very different painting styles, Mark's carving, I could do something like a 'gallery tour' of what we do. 00:17:15 Choose your channels about France wisely since there are so many channels springing up as people attempt to escape from 'Trumpland' and the USA. 00:19:22 Bye for now and have a good week. 00:19:31 OUTRO 00:19:57 End OUR CHANNELS A Village Life in France -- / @avillagelifeinfrance Paranormal Perspectives with Deborah Harmes -- / @deborahharmes @COPYRIGHT 2024 -- 2034 All words and images, both video and photographic, are strictly copyright protected and are @Deborah Harmes -- @Mark Harmes -- @A Village Life in France All rights reserved.
