While a lot about Superman: Legacy is still relatively unknown, the movie's general direction has been made clear for a while now. Meant to feature the Man of Steel at his most "classic," the film sets out to give a new generation of moviegoers the definitive take on the hero. Likewise, it will also be setting the stage for the rest of the upcoming DC Universe movies. There's obviously a lot riding on the project, but it's already poised to be the Man of Tomorrow's best movie yet. This stems mainly from the direction that director James Gunn wants to take it in. Conversely, the movie is also meant to avoid some of the same mistakes and plot points as older movies, allowing it to be both recognizable and fresh. Superman for All Seasons had Ma and Pa Kent in prominent roles. By showcasing Jonathan Kent as alive and well, the movie can again keep from repeating a major complaint about Man of Steel. This composite of Superman's best and most iconic stories will hopefully mold Superman: Legacy into a movie that defines both the character and the superhero movie genre for years to come. Those who've seen Gunn's plans are already incredibly confident in them, which speaks to how much he gets the character and not simply a particular take on him.
