This 13,000 Calorie Finnish Karjalanpiirakka Challenge w/

American professional eaters Randy Santel and ‪@KatinaEatsKilos‬ teamed up versus Puoti & Sumppila's 5kg/11lb 13,000 calorie Karjalanpiirakka Karelian Rice Pasty Challenge w/ more than 800 grams of butter and 17 eggs, hosted by Puoti & Sumppila in Ilomantsi, Finland which is in Eastern Finland, near the border of Finland and Russia!! The day after each attempting a mixed grill challenge at Ravintola Karhunmäki in Joensuu, Finland, we headed one hour east to Ilomantsi so we could team up and attempt the supersized 5kg/11lb 13,000 Calorie Karjalanpiirakka Karelian Rice Pasty Challenge hosted by Puoti & Sumppila!! Our Finnish friend ‪@JesseEats‬ told us about this one and helped set it up. Funny enough, we were trying to break his team's time record so we could get the whole €70 meal free!! A karjalanpiirakka is a traditional Finnish food served with breakfast and also at other times of the day. There was lots of rice, butter, and more, wrapped inside a rye bread dough, baked in the oven. I have no idea why, but that rice pasty gets covered with an egg butter mixture, and LOTS of it!! The whole challenge weighed about 11lbs or 5kg, and that weight includes the mixture of 800 grams (1.76 lbs) of butter and 17 eggs served on the side, which did all need to be finished as part of the challenge. The extra potato pasties I ate were optional and there were no drinks or desserts required. This is a challenge for teams of two people, and must be finished within 1 hour (60 minutes). Winners still pay €70 for the meal, but get sweet t-shirts and a spot on the Wall of Fame. If you beat the current time record for the challenge, you also get your whole meal free!!
