The Top 10 Best Disney Movies Number #10: Monsters, Inc. (2001) Monsters, Inc. is a company that generates energy for the city of Monstropolis by gathering the screams of children. When a child accidentally enters their world, their world is turned upside down. Monsters, Inc. has turned into a monstrous worldwide franchise, the 7th highest-grossing animated film franchise of all-time. Number #9: Sleeping Beauty (1959) Princess Aurora is born and a curse is placed on her by the evil fairy, Maleficent. The Princess goes to live and be protected by a trio of good fairies, however, their protection doesn’t end up being enough to stop the curse. Since 1959, Sleeping Beauty continues to reel in generations of children that delight in this thrilling adventure. Number #8: Cinderella (1950) Cinderella is considered the best animated American film according to the American Film Institute. It saved Disney from financial ruin, as between 1937-1950, Disney had a string of box office flops and millions in debt. Number #7: The Little Mermaid (1989) Ariel is the youngest daughter of King Triton, the powerful king under the sea. She wishes more than anything to be human and to be with her Prince. She makes a deal with Ursula, the evil sea witch, to become human for 3 days. Things don’t end up going according to plan ‘under the sea’. Number #6: Tarzan (1999) After he is shipwrecked with his parents on an island, and his parents are killed. Tarzan is raised by gorillas. He believes himself to be a gorilla until the day he meets another human. Where does he belong? Number #5: Beauty and the Beast (1991) Walt Disney’s 30th animated classic was Beauty and the Beast. A girl bored with small town life and constantly being the unwitting target of affection by the evil Gaston, she finds her life taking an unexpected turn when her father is captured by the Beast. Number #4: Frozen (2013) Released in 2013, Frozen is the youngest Disney film to make the list. Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s Snow Queen, it was a box office smash. Frozen raked in over $1 billion dollars at the box office worldwide. The much anticipated sequel is rumored to be released in fall of 2016. Number #3: Finding Nemo (2003) Father and son clownfish become separated and the father embarks on a journey to find his son. The American Film Institute named Finding Nemo as the 10th best animated film ever and it took home an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature film. Number #2: Aladdin (1992) The late Robin Williams as the Genie helped propel this film to the #2 spot. Aladdin is a modern retelling of the Arab folktale, Aladdin and the One Thousand and One Nights. Romance, adventure, and comedy all-in-one. Number #1: A musical masterpiece, The Lion King, is the highest-grossing hand-drawn animated film of all-time. With music composed by Elton John, a score by Hans Zimmer, The Lion King follows the journey of the young lion, Simba. Simba has to battle against the villain, Mufasa, in order to claim what is rightfully his. The Lion King has secured the #1 position as the Best Disney Movie ever made.
