Manual Focus Sometimes the best dishes are simple and not over complicated. The recipe below when cooked provides the perfect balance of flavors. The sweetness of the cabbage along with the savoriness of the bacon and the smokiness of the sausage takes this simple Fried cabbage to elevated heights. Prepping the Veggies Start off with prepping your bell peppers and onions. Rough chopping all ingredients to your preference will be fine. I would cut these with the perfect bite in mind. So in my opinion nothing to big or long. Prepping your sausage again I chose to cut mine in quarters for the perfect bite but these can be also cut into coins. Cut your bacon and get preheat your pan to a medium to a medium high heat. Cooking Instructions In a large pan or dutch oven place a couple of table spoons of butter and allow to melt. Place bacon in pan and render until it shows color on the edges. (Now you can go ahead and cook the bacon fully and add the bacon back into the cabbage recipe at the end). Once the bacon shows some color add in your onions for about a min and then add in your bell peppers. You will render these along with the bacon until the bacon is about 50% cooked. Add in your sausage and allow it to brown. Once you achieve browning on the sausage add in your minced garlic and cook until it becomes fragrant. Once the garlic becomes fragrant add half of your cabbage and stir ingredients and allow it to render. Once it starts to render add the remaining cabbage and stir. (I place a lid on the pan for about 5 minutes to speed up the rendering process) Occasionally stir ingredients and allow the cabbage to "fry" and become tender. Add seasoning to your preference. Once the cabbage becomes tender it is ready to serve.
