DOJ Accused Of Stonewalling Republican Investigation Into Matt Gaetz

According to a shocking new report from The Daily Beast, the Department of Justice is actively stonewalling the House Ethics Committee investigation into Matt Gaetz by refusing to turn over vital information that they had gathered during their own investigation. This is quite the bizarre move, and it begs the question as to why the DOJ is trying to hard to protect Gaetz. After all, they easily could have charged him but refused to do so, and now they are withholding information from the body that could do something about his behavior. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses what's happening. Link - https://www.thedailybeast.com/doj-sto... According to a shocking new report from the Daily Beast this week, the House Ethics Committee that is currently investigating, Matt Gates, has hit a bit of a wall. A wall called the United States Department of Justice, because according to the report and the sources close to the investigation, who spoke to reporters at The Daily Beast, the DOJ is not cooperating and is actually refusing to turn over vital information for the Matt Gates investigation in the house. Now, obviously, the US Department of Justice has finished their investigation and Matt Gates, so that is not an ongoing investigation. They already announced they're not gonna bring charges against him. That was announced over a year ago. So there is no logical reason for the DOJ to not give the House Ethics Committee what they need for their investigation because they're not looking into the other people that the DOJ is still investigating, because that's what the DOJ is trying to claim. Like, Hey, we've got ongoing investigations, and the house is like, great, wonderful. We don't care about those people. We want this guy, the guy you finished with, give us all that stuff. To make matters worse, the House Ethics Committee has authorized subpoenas to the DOJ to force them to turn over this information, but they haven't actually issued the subpoenas, right? They've made them, but they have not delivered them. They're still kinda waffling like, do we really wanna pick a fight with the Department of Justice to get this information on Matt Gaetz, or do we just wanna wait and hope that they end up cooperating? So right now, this investigation that had been going on the Fast Track once they finished with George Santos at the end of last year is kind of stalled. They know what they need, they know what they want to do, they know where they're headed with it, but they can't get there because for some strange reason, the Department of Justice is still trying to protect Matt Gates. Now if you ask me, that's the part that also needs to be investigated. Why did the DOJ choose to not charge Matt Gaetz a decision that even the cooperating witnesses who worked with the DOJ said this is total bs. Like we gave you evidence of criminal activity. Why are you not prosecuting him? And now why are you still protecting him? Those are two questions to which the American public deserves answers. If we have a sitting member of Congress, doesn't matter if you're in his district like I am or not, if we have a member of Congress that, you know, broke the law, but you are somehow trying to protect him for some reason or another, we have every right to know that. And we need to know who is protecting him, why they're protecting him, and how quickly we can get those people removed from their office, because this is utter nonsense. And let me tell you this, the House Ethics committee was once the DOJ originally launched their investigation into Matt Gaetz, the House Ethics Committee did the same. They said, oh, is one of our people we'll investigate? And the DOJ came to the House Ethics Committee and said, Hey, hey, whoa, whoa, whoa. Could you guys not do this right now? Because we are investigating him. You know, we've got all this authority.
