To say that the portrayal of Corlys Velaryon missed the mark on the show would be an understatement for any book-fan who read 'Fire and Blood'. Even though I personally lean more towards Aegon II and the cause of the Green Faction, I still like many characters from the Black Faction in the book, and Corlys Velaryon is definitely one of them. The issue isn't race-swapping the character more than it is the loss of his legendary personality and feats. The writers clearly didn't understand who Corlys Velaryon truly was, and it shows a lot on the tv show 'House of the Dragon'. Instead of portraying him as the iconic "Lord of the Tides" and the powerful "Sea Snake" - a man who was basically like a celebrity and a living legend in the eyes of the Westerosi - they instead decided to reduce him to a background character who has little depth and who barely does anything throughout the story. It's so unfortunate.
