BPPV Treatment - Avoid These 2 Mistakes! (Vertigo Treatment)

If you're trying to treat your BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) at home, you're going to want to avoid these two common mistakes! The first mistake seems kind of obvious, but I think it happens quite a bit... Mistake #1: do NOT skip to treating with the Epley Maneuver without first performing the Dix-Halpike Test! Once you test, then you can proceed to accurate treatment with the Epley Maneuver. And this leads to the second mistake I see a lot of people making... Mistake #2: make sure to RE-TEST after treating with the Epley. If you're lucky, your treatment will have helped. You may still need to repeat the Epley 2-4 times, but things should be improving. However, this isn't always the case! For some people, the vertigo can switch from posterior canal to horizontal canal. If this happens, you need to switch gears entirely so you can diagnose and treat yourself for horizontal canal instead. So that's the moral of today's video: make sure you test BEFORE you treat, and make sure you test again AFTER you treat, just to make sure you're on the right track!
