Ludwig Van Beethoven wrote Symphony No. 8. in F Major, Op. 93 (“Little Symphony”) in 1812. Known for pairing symphonies, the composer crafted this lighthearted work alongside his grand Symphony No. 7. Symphony No. 8 is unique for its unconventional form and use of only major modes. Highlights include a brisk Allegretto scherzando, parodying the metronome, and a minuet in place of a scherzo led by trumpet and drum.
