In 1921, he joined the Indian National Congress and became an active participant in the Indian freedom struggle. Bose soon rose through the ranks of the Congress and became a prominent leader. However, he soon realized that the Congress's policy of non-violence was not enough to free India from British rule. He believed that India needed a more militant approach to gain its independence. In 1939, Bose was elected as the President of the Indian National Congress but was later forced to resign due to his differences with Mahatma Gandhi and the Congress leadership. Bose then went on to form the Forward Bloc, which was a militant and radical political party that advocated for complete independence for India. Bose's determination to free India from British rule led him to seek help from the Axis powers during World War II. He traveled to Germany and Japan and sought their support for the Indian independence movement. In 1943, Bose formed the Indian National Army (INA) in collaboration with the Japanese, and the INA played a crucial role in the freedom struggle. Bose was a charismatic leader who inspired millions of Indians to join the freedom struggle. He believed in the power of the people and their ability to bring about change. He famously said, "Give me blood, and I shall give you freedom," which became the slogan of the Indian National Army. Sadly, Bose's life was cut short when he died in a plane crash in August 1945.
