But if our critics are wrong, if we are right, as I believe with every fibre of instinct that I believe that we are, and we do not act, then we will have hesitated in the face of this menace when we should have given leadership, that is something history will not forgive." 12. Wide of chamber applauding at conclusion of speech STORYLINE: British Prime Minister Tony Blair told the United States Congress on Thursday the war in Iraq was justified whether or not weapons of mass destruction are found, and said failure to confront the threat would have been something that history would not forgive. At the same time, the leader, who stood the strongest with President Bush in the Iraqi war, gently urged the administration not to bear grudges against traditional allies that opposed the decision to oust Saddam Hussein.
