Backcountry Nordic Skiing & Making Hot Tea By The Frozen River. Backyard Backcountry Ski Touring: How To Have A Simple Winter Adventure Out Your Door | Sometimes you just want to put on your gear and skip the car all together. Get right to the adventure. This week the roads were really slippery and the idea of staying right in town sounded just right. We wanted to take our Fischer S-Bound 112 skis & Rotefella bindings out into the backcountry but the recent ice storm made the conditions not so fun. Our town of Lincoln, New Hampshire was one of few areas that got snow instead of ice. The best skiing was to be had right out our door in our own backyard. We decided to re-create an entire day about backcountry touring on skis in our neighborhood. This is an adventure that a beginner cross country skier or full expert could have a lot of fun with. We packed everything just like a typical adventure in the wilderness to keep it authentic. Right down to our Jet Boil Stove, some Tea from @augustuncommon , extra snacks, and even the first aid supplies. The goal was to show that exploration and a fun adventure can be had in any season whether your hometown is in the mountains or city, its all just your perspective and allowing your mind to wander away into adventure land. Our home is on the edge of the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire and we realize its easy to get into the woods with very little effort so instead we set off to ski tour right through the parking lots, neighbors yards, sidewalks, and yes eventually some forest trails that connect to town. To just get out there, move our bodies and share some good times together on our cross country skis made it an incredibly rewarding excursion. There was nor off grid cabin or lean to shelters but we did end up on an island in the Pemigewasset River and enjoyed some hot tea. Big adventures are great, we live for those experiences too but some of the greatest moments we have in our memories are the adventures we created with our childhood imaginations when the neighborhood became a vast wilderness only limited by our perspective and the penny candy we used to fuel our explorations. So I hope this video inspires you to put on your gear, step out your door and let your inner child run rampant around the neighborhood, hopped up on candy. Thanks For Watching. Much Love & Gratitude. #backcountry #augustuncommon #nordic #nordicski #backyardadventure #backcountryskiing
