Doctor O'Donovan explains vulvovaginal candidiasis - or thrush including causes, symptoms, and treatment. Vulvovaginal candidiasis refers to vaginal and vulval symptoms caused by a yeast, most often Candida albicans. It affects 75% of women on at least one occasion over a lifetime. Overgrowth of vaginal candida may result in: - White curd-like vaginal discharge - Burning sensation in the vagina and vulva - An itchy rash on the vulva and surrounding skin. Treatment can involve antifungal creams, pessaries, or tablets. This video will be of interest to medical professionals (doctors, nurses etc.), health care students (medical and nursing students), those preparing for exams - (medical school finals, GP AKT, USMLE,) and the general public interested in health education.
