Rosslynlee Hospital, originally known as the Midlothian and Peebles District Asylum, was a psychiatric facility located near Roslin in Midlothian, Scotland. Designed by architect William Lambie Moffatt, the hospital opened its doors in 1874 to serve the landward parishes of Edinburgh and Midlothian. Its proximity to the local railway station led to its eventual renaming as Rosslynlee Hospital.  In 1898, the hospital expanded with the addition of two wings designed by Sir Robert Rowand Anderson. Upon joining the National Health Service in 1948, it was renamed Rosslynlee Mental Hospital, and in 1960, it adopted the name Rosslynlee Hospital.  The introduction of the Care in the Community policy in the early 1980s initiated a period of decline for the hospital, leading to its closure in 2011. Subsequently, plans were developed to transform the site into a residential community named St. Margarets.
