In this video, we explore the incredible set of Grimmauld Place from Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix. This fantastic set is a typical 18th-century Georgian square in London, with terraced houses. However, everything inside is strangely distorted. The house is the ancestral home of Sirius Black, who's hiding out here. The feeling of enclosure is prevalent in the set, and Stuart designed the sets with very high ceilings to accentuate the height. Lots of windows are mirrored, and you can't see out, giving another effect of enclosure. As you come in, the walls of the hall are all a dark gray silk printed with a big damask pattern, giving it an aged look. The floor of the hall is a tessellated tile effect in black and white. Mira, the head of graphics, designed the tapestry for the Black family tree, which went back four or five generations, and had 75, 10 names on it. It was all painted and specially woven tapestry fabric. The Grimmauld Place set is incredibly decayed, dusty, and has all black woodwork. The whole feeling of the set is of enclosure, but it's amazing and cool. It's definitely not a room you'd like to spend the night in, especially with skulls lying around. Overall, the set is fantastic, and the attention to detail is incredible.
