She suffers terrible head injuries and is left with permanent brain damage and the thief, according to the court, not guilty. It wasn't his fault. The drugs were to blame. And don't think this was a one-off case. There's a potentially dangerous loophole in the law and it works like this. In more and more cases, zonked out crooks are claiming they had a psychotic episode, triggered by alcohol or drugs. And so they end up in hospital, not jail. Or sometimes, they just walk free.
