What is the Difference Between Concrete and Cement?

Concrete and cement are not the same thing, there is a difference between the two and the names are not interchangeable. Cement is just one ingredient of concrete and concrete is the finished product that is made from multiple materials. Cement is a powdered material made from iron, aluminum, calcium, limestone, and a number of other ingredients. Cement powder, usually called Portland cement, is mixed with sand, gravel, and water to make concrete. It acts as the binder for all of the materials that make concrete; it essentially glues the materials together and hardens. This hardened mixture of materials is concrete.
