This channel presents oral history interviews conducted and/or edited by students working with Dr. Anne Murphy (UBC, History), both from the class-based oral history program and independent research programs that involve students. The “Punjabi in BC” project, was core funded by the Program for Undergraduate Research Experience (PURE) with additional support from an anonymous donor to the Department of History and the UBC Work Learn Program, as well as from Dr. Anne Murphy’s SSHRC Insight Grant. The “Punjabi in BC” program has recorded the oral histories of more than fifty individuals who have worked for the Punjabi language in British Columbia: K-12 educators, advocates and activists, writers, and journalists. It has not recorded every story, but has sought to record an important sample of the stories of the individuals who have made Punjabi a part of British Columbia. For more information, and for more interviews, please visit: https://blogs.ubc.ca/annemurphy/resea.... All those filmed for these projects have signed consent and release forms that authorize their participation in these videos, and the dissemination of edited videos online.
