This randomly happened as early as mid-December. Intermittent freezing, and then black screen and then rebooting into this Verifying Installation screen. Kinda pissed off that it's a brand new unit (bought back in the beginning of December), and I expect it to work properly. I have read tons of Reddit posts and it seems it's a prevalent bug that was introduced in patch 3.5 (I'm now on patch 3.5.7). Nothing seems to fix it. I tried changing the UMA buffer to 4GB (default was 1GB), nothing. Tried turning off the adaptive brightness, nothing. Tried reimaging the deck, nothing. Tried changing the patch from Stable to BETA to Preview, nothing. What I can do is hard-reset the thing and hope it never happens when I'm playing (so far, it hasn't happened when I'm playing. But I know it will happen.) What's really funny is that big Youtubers like Linus and others that covered this Steam Deck didn't even mention this issue when there were literally lots of people suffering from this bug. ASSUMING this is a bug. Fingers crossed that it IS, cuz it can be fixed with a patch somewhere down the road.
