You must think it's going to be great.  Your food will cost less, the gas will be cheaper, and you will be left with more money after paying your rent or mortgage. You could go on vacations or invest more for retirement. But that's the opposite of the truth. When things get cheaper, companies make fewer profits.  When companies make fewer profits, they start firing people.  When people don't have jobs, they don't spend money. When people don't spend money, there is less demand for goods. Less demand for goods means goods get cheaper. As you can see, we are in a circle. If things get cheaper, the economy shrinks. People lose their jobs and unemployment surges.  This phenomenon is called deflation. It is the opposite of inflation, and even a tiny bit of deflation is much worse than inflation. The last deflation was the 2008 banking crisis. The one before this was the great depression in the previous century.
