𝗣𝗨𝗕𝗟𝗜𝗖 𝗦𝗔𝗙𝗘𝗧𝗬 𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡: Venice Homeless Encampment Cleanup Targets Milwood and Palms Boulevard

Venice, CA – April 8, 2025 — A coordinated multi-agency operation unfolded Tuesday morning at Milwood Avenue and Palms Boulevard in Venice, as authorities carried out a scheduled cleanup targeting illegal encampments in the high-traffic coastal area. The effort brought together personnel from the Los Angeles Police Department, the Department of Public Works, and environmental specialists from Clean Harbors Environmental Inc., with support from outreach teams. Crews in protective gear cleared debris and waste from sidewalks and public parking areas, addressing both hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Officials noted that the targeted zone has become a recurring location for illegal camping, underscoring ongoing public safety and sanitation concerns. The enforcement action was carried out under Los Angeles Municipal Code (LAMC) Section 56.11, which governs the storage of personal property in public spaces. Individuals present were given 15 minutes to gather their belongings before sanitation crews proceeded with removals. No arrests or citations were reported during the operation. LAPD officers provided security throughout the sweep, maintaining order while sanitation workers performed their duties. Outreach teams from the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) were on-site to assist displaced individuals, offering food, water, and hygiene supplies. A representative from Councilwoman Traci Park’s office also attended, emphasizing the city’s approach of coupling enforcement actions with service-based outreach. City officials reiterated that the cleanup is part of a sustained initiative to improve public health conditions and ensure accessibility in Venice Beach, while continuing efforts to connect unhoused residents with critical support services and long-term housing solutions.
