Today, we take the S&W Shield Plus out on the range for our first shot impressions. Being a shorter, 3.1" barrel, this will be a little different than the range guns I'm used to. With Smith & Wesson evolving the Shield platform to a double stack, decent weight to size ratio, and Shield Plus offers an optimal 18-degree grip angle with at least 2 different magazine types. A flush 10 round and an extended 13 round. Another great reason when looking at the micro-compact segment of pistols. The grip is fatter than the predecessor to accommodate the thicker grip. Which is good and still retains that 18 degree angle. This creates an ease for gaining a natural point-of-aim scenario for the user. The sights, are H3 Tritium Night sights. Blacked out rear and an orange circled front. Right out of the gate, the Shield Plus is hitting all the targets for a king of the hill EDC. And that trigger. The best trigger I've seen from S&W right out of the box. Wall and reset, CHECK! Audible click. Scared the cat. So it's there. Let's take it out at the range today and check it out.
