(China) Keywords: Modular construction manufacturing, Modular integrated construction, Leannes, Production process optimization Session: Thesis in 3 Abstract: With modular construction reviving around the world, a significant portion of on-site works is now mass-produced as modules in factories, shifting modular construction manufacturing to an upfront challenge for project or production managers. Modular integrated construction, as one of the innovative approaches of modular construction, has the most complex production process and a high level of customization. Although moving into the factory and proving its efficiency through many practical cases, MiC manufacturing has its uniqueness and still has great potential to be further optimized to improve productivity. This Ph.D. study proposes an operation-based production process optimization for MiC manufacturing, aiming at smoothing production operations and improving the leanness level in the factory. An in-depth literature review, interview and questionnaire, and production data analysis will be conducted to summarize the characteristics of MiC manufacturing. A process management framework based on the characteristics and optimization model will be designed to benefit decision-making during production. Case studies will be conducted to validate the optimization methods and management framework. This research will expand the current range of literature and help improve the productivity in MiC manufacturing."
