The Qadr night, literally means Night of Decree or Night of Power. Muslims believe this was the night God sent the Angel Gabriel to the prophet to reveal the first verses of the Quran. Shiite muslims keep vigil at nights preceding the 19th, 21th and 23rd days of Ramadan as Qadr nights to pray and recite the Quran. They believe their destinies for the whole year ahead is decided on Qadr nights, and Allah is most forgiving if they repent during those nights. "These are very good nights. We use these nights to get closer to God and to gain peace of heart," said Milad Nooripoor, 28, a worshiper. Worshipers were also provided with free meals and tea as Suhoor, the meal before dawn ahead of a day of fasting. Ramadan culminates in Laylat al-Qadr, or the Night of Destiny, during the last 10 nights of the month, when Muslims engage in intense late night worship.
