MEGAWORLD ASIA: your caving video specialist in Southeast Asia. A short 4k (DRONE) travel video featuring the spectacular waterfalls of the BOLAVEN PLATEAU, in the wet season. The following is a brief description of each sightseeing attraction: BOLAVEN IN THE RAINY SEASON: The Plateau tends to be more popular with sightseers in the dry season, due to the obvious clear skies and cooler weather. However, the more challenging rainy season is definitely the best time to see the waterfalls, as they are in peak flow. The road across the centre of the plateau will take you through some of the most stunning landscapes in Laos, and also enable you to stop at the best waterfall locations. TAD FANE: The primary attraction of Tad Fane is the twin falls, which are considered one of the highest in Laos. The site is approximately 38 km from Pakse, on hwy 16E. It is well set-up for tourism and sightseeing, with properly constructed viewing platforms and a restaurant/café nearby. There’s also the added attraction of a zipline circuit which provides a number of thrilling rides around the top of the falls. There’s a secure parking area, approximately 500 meters from the highway, where you pay a 5000 Kip parking fee and 10000 Kip for entry into the waterfall viewing area. There’s also food vendors and tourist trinket shops around the car-park. From the parking area it’s approximately 100 meters to the viewing area. Note: For those who might want to stay overnight, there’s also a number of bungalows on-site. TAD GNEUANG: This is another great waterfall site, just 2 km further up the road (east) from Tad Fane. The site is also well set up for sightseeing with a couple of elevated restaurants providing views over the water-coursed landscape above the falls. During the dry season, base of the falls is accessible. In the wet, the draft and mist blowing of the falls is so intense that going beyond the lookout (half way down) will certainly have you soaked through. TAD KATAMTOK (AKA XEKATAM): This is arguably the biggest and most impressive waterfall on the Bolaven Plateau. It’s situated approximately 48 km east of Paksong (on the mountain road) in an uninhabited and remote area, a few kilometers past the Xe Namnoy hydro-electric development. The area has magnificent jungle covered peaks and deep ravines, and is a spectacular ride on a motorbike. The turn off is approximately 2 km East of the old bridge, and next to a large Banyan tree. Prior to Covid, a track continued along the edge of the cliff face, giving a better view of the falls. That is now overgrown with jungle. There’s a small viewing area, just a few meters from the large tree (where you park your bike). TAD FAED: This waterfall is a hidden gem on the BIG LOOP, of the Bolaven Plateau. The waterfall is actually located in Sekong Province, on the eastern edge of the plateau. This is a wide set of falls on the Xe Khong River. It is best viewed in the rainy season, when the water is in full flow. However, the best time for swimming is in the dry season. There are some facilities on-site such as toilets and restaurants. As of July 2022, there is no entry fee. TAD LO: Prior to Covid there was a solid bridge across the river (south of TAD HANG FALLS) which allowed sightseers to crossover to the western side and follow a boarded walkway up to the base of TAD LO FALLS. As of July 2022, that bridge no longer exists (destroyed by flooding). #DroneVideoLaos #LaosTravelandAdventure #LaosAdventureVideo #LaosMotorbikeLoopTours #LaosWaterfalls #LaosHikingTrails #LaosMotorbikeAdventureTours #BolavenPlateauLaos #BolavenWaterfalls #BolavenLoopTour #TadFaneWaterfall #TadYuangWaterfall #TadLoWaterfall #TadChampeeWaterfall #TadKatamtokWaterfall #TadfaedWaterfall
