In this video we are going to be cover specifically the controller class. As a Wattson main this has to be one of the most exciting changes and one any defensive legend is going to love. Prior, in general defense legends are big on going to zone, gating, and strategically holding controlling a fight. Let us define what gating is real quick. As the zone gets smaller & smaller there are areas where there is only 1 way in. Perhaps through a tunnel, canyon, or buildings section. This is what we call a gate. Controllers can slow opponents from rotating through those areas as effectively and you can ensure you have the strategic advantage. Because no one wants to be caught out from zone. With this class system change all controller legends will be able to hit a new console on the map to signal the next zone. This will allow you to control the teams decisions, rotation, and where to hold. But also know what areas to potentially gate. This means recon legends no longer provide next zone info. This information is only available to Caustic, Catalyst, Wattson, and Rampart. Just remember when hitting these consoles how vulnerable you are, like this example utilize cover and legend utility to help you hit the console without getting hit. So get out there and learn the zone and control the fights. Newcastle & Gibraltar have been moving to the support class. So you are probably asking. Why is this such a buff to these legends? Well the easiest answer is it demands in a pro scene that one of these legends be run. If you decide to run a skirmisher, Assault and Recon. You are missing out on key utility for the zone. Zone knowledge is always key and the only way to counter it is by playing so much you can guess where the zone is. But guessing has never been a good way to ensure victory. You can play two different ways on Apex Legends. You can play edge of zone or you can play in the zone. Playing in-between usually gets you caught out or sandwiched. Edge compositions will probably run without a controller as zone matters "less" But if you want to go into zone and find the correct areas, you will 100% need to use a controller. Just remember how important your composition is and what you lose. Tip reminders - Play to your teams strengths if you have recon or a skirmisher for example. Going to certain fights or items will need to be based on where zone is pulling. - Use legend utility like we covered earlier to go to cover while hitting the consoles - Remember as a controller you lack rotational ability. If you are a slower looter or late to the zone and you know the zone is far. You need to book it and go to zone. Last fast tip which is also the probably going to make fun of me for being obvious. Land on consoles and utilize the info. Prior beacons are missed, even in pubs. But that information is so important and slept on. Knowledge is power.
