ERI-TV: NEWS Asmara, 16 January 2014 -- President Omar Hassan Al-Beshir of the Republic of Sudan today arrived in Asmara on official working visit. On arrival at Asmara International Airport, he was accorded warm welcome by President Isaias Afwerki and Senior government officials accompanied by salute of the Guard of Honor and national anthems of both countries. Later on, the two leaders conducted first round talks at the State House. In the course of the meeting, both sides exchanged views on ways and means of upgrading the prevailing historic and people-based bilateral relations, as well as the implementation of previously concluded agreements. Moreover, they discussed new areas of partnership, regional developments and issues of interest to both countries. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Asmara, 16 January 2014 -- The community members of Arbaete-Asmera here in the capital said that the putting in place of a new Elementary school in the quarter would make major input as regards fostering educational service quality. Among the residents, Ms. Hiwet Negasi and Ms. Amleset Desta stated that the construction of the facility has neared finalization, and that there prevails readiness on the part of the community members to utilize it judiciously. Out of the construction workers, Biniam Tekie and Dawit Mehari expressed satisfaction with the job opportunity. The Supervisor of the project being implemented on the basis of a joint venture between the Eritrean and Chinese Education Ministries, Mr. Huabg Li, said that the task has gained momentum, and that it is due to be concluded in June. Situated on an area of more than 4,500 square meters, the schools would accommodate a total of 24 classrooms and 3 offices, providing room for around 1,500 students per shift. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Assab, 16 January 2014 -- Reports indicated that the 32 Km-long dirt road linking Hai and Eddi in Central Denkalia sub-zone has been renovated through popular initiative which witnessed collaboration of members of the People's Army. Among the People's Army members, Mohammed-Ali Saleh and Mr. Abubaker Ali expressed satisfaction with extending labor support in the undertaking, and that they would sustain their participation in such ventures. They further lauded the community members for integrating their material and labor resources for the realization of the goal, and asserted that the coherent communal relation with EDF members remains intact nationwide. Mr. Hamad Gebru, head of administration and finance in the sub-zonal administration, and Mr. Ahmedin Hussein, Administrator of Ereble area, pointed out that the road has been causing transport problems, and that its renovation has not only ensured convenience for vehicle mobility but also provided the shortest route. A number of community-led activities are being carried out in Central Denkalia sub-zone with a view to renovating dirt roads, according to reports. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Asmara, 16 January 2014 -- The National Cycling Federation stated that Eritrean Coach Mussie Ashel has won Africa's Distinguished Coach Award. It further indicated that such award would give impetus to the triumph being demonstrated by the nation in the sports domain, besides fostering morale among the coaches who have been making significant input as regards nurturing competent cyclists. It is to be recalled that Mussie Asehel scored vibrant victories coaching the National Team in the championship tournaments in Burkina Faso, Egypt and others. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Augaro, 16 January 2014 -- The Administration of Laelai-Gash sub-zone has called on students in the locality to demonstrate excellence in their academic pursuit and thereby make due input in the nation's development. It made the call at a meeting with High School students, during which Mr. Rezene Fisehaye from the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare's sub-zonal branch explained the efforts exerted towards enhancing educational outreach in remote areas. He also urged the participants to strive to equip themselves with knowledge and make positive impact in social development. Likewise, Mr. Abdulhawsie Wahkum from the NUEYS branch in the sub-zone indicated that students constitute primary beneficiaries of social service facilities, and advised the participants of the meeting to effectively utilize the free educational opportunity accorded them at government expenditure.
