This video contains visual highlights (in 3 minutes) of the hike to the General Grant Tree from the Azalea Campground in Kings Canyon National Park. The General Grant Tree is the second largest giant sequoia tree in the world and is the main attraction in the General Grant Grove. The General Grant Tree (and others) can be accessed via a 1/2 mile paved loop that takes you through part of Grant Grove. It takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes to complete the loop. The Grant Grove loop can be reached by vehicle or by foot. There is a parking lot near the entrance of the loop for those traveling by vehicle. You can also hike to the General Grant Tree from the Grant Grove Village (about two miles), Sunset Campground, or the Azalea Campground. If you have the time and are physically capable, I recommend hiking to the General Grant Tree rather than driving. Hiking provides the opportunity to see the forest, trees and sights that are not part of the Grant Grove loop, and the possibility of seeing wildlife (you'll see what I mean in my video).
