Advanced Design Tips: Adding a Video to Your GoDaddy Website

As the company empowering everyday entrepreneurs around the world, GoDaddy gives you all the help and tools you need to grow online. I'm in Edit Site Mode on the YouTube page of a Walt Disney World blog site. I wanna add a video of the newest transportation option for my readers. So let's click Add Section. And in the Sections panel, click Video. There's a couple of layouts available for videos. Let's go with the single video with featured content option. And here's our placeholder video on the left and the Video Edit panel on the right. Like most section types in Website Builder, you can always change the layout and accent color. But more important, let's replace the placeholder video with the video of the Skyliner. The video of the new Skyliner is hosted on YouTube. To make things easy, I've opened another tab in my browser and navigated to the video we want to embed. So I'll click on that tab. On the video, click Share and then click Copy. The same general idea works in the Vimeo platform. Open a new browser tab and access your Vimeo account to get your video's URL. Now, back to Website Builder. In the video URL field, we'll select the default URL and paste in the URL for the video hosted on YouTube. And check it out, a thumbnail of the video is already displaying on the page. Our title field will say Video by default. I'm gonna change it to match the video. You can also delete it entirely if you don't want a title. I wrote up a description of the video earlier so I'll just paste it in this field. Notice that it shows up to the right of our video in this layout. You can always format your text in the description field, add bullets or numbers, and even hyperlinks if you want to. Everything's in there. So we'll click Done. And as always, check out the preview. And there it is. Let's click Play for the full effect. Nice. Let's look at another way to add video to your site in Website Builder. GoDaddy and Vimeo have partnered together so you can upload your own videos right into your Website's Plus Marketing site. I wanna add a video of a counter service restaurant at Star Wars Galaxy's Edge that I thought was really cool. It's called Ronto Roasters. I'm back in Website Builder for my Disney World blog. We're gonna add another video the same way that we did before. Click Add Section. Click Video. And then click on the Single video with featured content option. Obviously, you can click on whichever one you want. It's your site. Just like before, we wanna click on the placeholder video so that we can replace it with our Ronto Roaster video. So here's the cool thing about the partnership between GoDaddy and Vimeo. You can upload your videos to be hosted by Vimeo directly through Website Builder. You can upload the first three videos into your site header without even having a Vimeo account. And if you want to add more, you can connect to Vimeo with your GoDaddy account. You can click on change video to connect your account and see your uploaded Vimeo videos in the media library. You can also upload a video to your media library by clicking Add Videos. Select the video. Click Open. It takes a few minutes for the video to load. Once the video has been uploaded, select it and then click Insert. Now we've added the Ronto Roasters video. We can add the title and description for the video. I'm gonna click Play on this one as well. Nice.
