Traditionally, most fish are symmetrical, but the eyes of flounders and soles are positioned to one side, and they swim not by flipping their fins left and right, but up and down. Even more intriguing is that these fish are symmetrical right after hatching, but within three weeks, one eye starts to move to the opposite side, and in about a month, their faces become completely distorted.
