Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force General Qiao Liang warned that Beijing had the right to shoot down any aircraft not obeying the rule over the zone. But less than 48 hours later, two American B-52 bombers flew over the disputed China air zone. "We have continued to follow our normal procedures, which include not filing flight plans, not radioing ahead and not registering our frequencies" announced the Pentagon. While at first, "There had been no response from China",said the Pentagon. Then the CCP statement said, "China's air force monitored the entire course (of the US bombers), identified them in a timely way, and ascertained the type of US aircraft."
