In 1965, Prominent Violinists from every country were chosen to perform the Sibelius Violin Concerto with Orchestra and in recital in their respective countries. A teenage Albert Stern was chosen by the Finlandia foundation in conjunction with the government of Finland, as the American violinist in the centennial commemoration of the composer Jean Sibelius. Albert Stern performed the Sibelius Violin Concerto with numerous symphony orchestras throughout the USA. The final concerts were at Carnegie Hall and in Washington D.C. before the entire consular core and the future president. A performance of the Sibelius Concerto First Movement was recorded and broadcast live on WNYC radio at that time.
