This week I was working on new prototypes and had an amazing opportunity to join Converse on an event held in Kurash skatepark. UNI - I was experimenting with pleating through the exploration of airport pat-downs. Having watched a bunch of videos I drew a body map in my sketchbook and followed it on a mannequin to later place my pleats in specific areas, in the same direction as airport workers' hands move during the procedure. Because the outcome looked too much like warriors' armour I felt like recreating the same prototype in jersey for a softer, more gentle effect. Because I had to use pins to mark the mannequin with ribbon, pin the pleats and later pin the jersey on top, to recreate the same pattern pieces I ended up using about 700 pins just for these two prototypes. I am going to retrieve most of them when I take the pieces off, but just for me to remember later - the opening shot is significant for this vlog. CONVERSE @converse_russia - I was extremely lucky to be invited to participate in an event alongside a bunch of young creative individuals like dancers, visual and sound artists, bloggers and designers. It was my first time ever being invited to such gathering and it was shocking to say the least, sine I'm not some kind of influencer or anything even remotely close to one. Everyone got a new pair of converse sneakers (I got bright red ❤️ chuck 70 high-tops) with their instagram name on the side, how cute! I had a chance to socialise with strangers, whom we might collaborate with on my degree collection photo and video production later this year.
