Our school LOVES scouts. Because of this reason, our school's scoutmaster will assign the higher level scout members (usually high-schoolers) to conduct scout events for the younger kids every year. Today is the G8 scout event. Us, the service team will teach them a variety of scout skills and how a scout camp looks like. We will also build models and play games with them. Studying in an IB school, we have learned that everything can be connected to IB learner profile attributes or any ATL skills. The presence of these skills show the purpose of the activities we do, which proves how each activity trains us from a certain aspect. ⭐️ IB learner profiles present in this event: - ⚖️ Balanced We understand the importance of balancing different aspects of our lives—intellectual, physical, and emotional—to achieve well-being for ourselves and others. Scouts is an extracurricular activity that teaches you survival and team work skills. As we participate in scouts, we are achieving a balance between in-school activities and out-of-school activities. We also learn how to live a balanced lifestyle in scouts. ⭐️ IB Approaches to Learning (ATL) present in the event: - 👥 Collaboration Skills (Working effectively with others) In our event, the children are grouped into teams. All members of all teams have to collaborate throughout the whole day. This includes discussing the team name, coming up with a team cheer, working together pass each game, and working together to build a Roman Catapult, etc. - ⛹️‍♀️ Transfer skills (Using skills and knowledge in multiple contexts) We apply different scout skills in different situations. For example, when someone breaks their arm, we know how to make a replacement medical sling to hold the arm cast. When someone faints and doesn't move, we know how to perform a proper CPR process.
