H. (Noah Homeriki). Stalin argued the Bolshevik position which was that the workers needed to be armed, trained and ready for an uprising which would perhaps happen in the near future. He based this view on Marxism and quotes both Marx and Engels on the subject. However the Menshevik N. H. calls this "Blanquism". Stalin also criticized Anarchist military tactics along with Menshevik tactics based on Engels' "The Bakuninists at work" which analyzed the failures of the Spanish revolution of 1868-74 and the role of the Bakuninists in that. The topic of armed action, weapons and training is very relevant to this day and every Marxist should consider it carefully based on our current conditions. Things to consider are gun legislation in a given country and the prospects of an armed rising in the near future. In the Russian Empire an armed rising was imminent and only a fool would not try to prepare for it. In the modern USA for instance an armed rising in the near future is not likely, however gun laws are lax so taking advantage of that and arming and training is logical. Marxists should consider this topic based on the situation in their own country.
