Hookworms of Dogs and Cats - causes, transmission, pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment

Hookworm disease in small animals can be caused by Ancylostoma caninum, A. tubaeforme, A. braziliense, A. ceylanicum, and Uncinaria stenophala. They can be transmitted via ingestion, transmammary transmission, and skin penetration. There are several forms of hookworm disease. In humans, a condition known as cutaneous larva migrans or creeping eruption occurs when infected percutaneously. Diagnosis is by detection of eggs in feces. Anthelmnthics are used to kill the worms and supportive therapy is done for the anemia. Deworming is important! Like what I do?
