Level 1 books contain 300 words, level two 500 words, level 3 750 words and level 4 1100 words. The Chinese Breeze books are around 70-90 pages long and contain no Pinyin. They do however contain a vocabulary index at the back and translations of difficult words in the footer of each page. I would recommend Chinese Breeze graded readers to beginner learners of Chinese who have already learned their first 500 characters. I would also recommend them to intermediate learners who have a decent grasp of elementary grammar and vocabulary but are lacking in reading proficiency.
